Commoneltha -- The Vampire Lady

Commoneltha the Vampire Lady, is an almost forgotten horror icon from the 1960's. The character was portrayed by the ever classy Marilyn Eastman and was constantly appearing in commercials for Commonwealth Plumbing and Heating. The commercials were written by longtime creative partner Karl Hardman (Santa Claws). Both Eastman and Hardman are, perhaps, best remembered for their roles as the dysfunctional couple, Mr. & Mrs. Cooper, from the 1968 horror classic Night of the Living Dead. 

These vintage commercials would air during the Chiller Theater movie nights on Pittsburgh's WIIC-TV (Channel 11), which were hosted by Bill "Chilly Billy" Cardille (who also had a role in NOLD)! Although very popular at the time, any images or media of this sultry vampire vixen has been extremely elusive for Sicko-Psychotic to obtain. Nonetheless, SP is proud to pay tribute to one of the first famous horror characters of television.

Zombie Flicks: A List

Since their official and successful debut in 1932, celluloid zombies have proven themselves as quite the survivors. Ever evolving with the times and generations of filmmakers, they march forward across the silver screen frightening movie audiences throughout the world. Initially, they rose up as mindless slaves powered by the magic of voodoo. During the 1950s they were controlled by extraterrestrials or were the subjects of secret scientific experiments. When the '60s fell upon us, these silent ghouls took to the wrestling ring and pitted themselves against masked Mexican superheroes. But it wasn't until 1968 that these infamous creatures morphed into something far more dangerous and terrifying... they became flesh-eaters! These cannibals ate their victims alive and learned to attack in large numbers, spreading an infectious virus among the threatened human race! The odd '70s introduced us to biker zombies and these monsters even appeared in blaxploitation cinema until they shuffled their way across European boarders where they dined heavily on victims prominent in the erotic film industry. By the time the '80s were half-way over, our undead friends reigned in Italy, were mistaken for mummies, impersonated by demons, discovered the ability to talk, had invaded MTV music videos, and starred in numerous comedies... whew! Like every other genre in the 1990s, nothing new developed for the living dead. Instead, the decade reverted back to previous successful incarnations of the zombie until Asian shock cinema took over to give us some of the most bizarre and action-packed zombie flicks ever! During the new millennium, zombies had evolved into martial artists and discovered the ability to 'run' after their human prey and hunt them down with various weapons (i.e. guns, chainsaws, swords, etc.).

Down below I have listed all the zombie films I have come across. Films like The Evil Dead series have been omitted because, although they resemble zombies, they are actually demons possessing human bodies. (Such titles will be listed soon under DEMON FLICKS: A LIST.) If by chance a title has escaped me... please feel free to inform me so that I can add it to the list; however, please suggest ONLY films that actually feature zombies. 

A special note: most of the titles claiming to be ZOMBI(E) 2, 3, 4, etc. are not sequels and have nothing to do with one another. Originally, they were (and continue to be) slapped onto the films to capitalize on the success of George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead (1978), which was released in Europe under the alternate title Zombie.
